KOTA KINABALU: Women should be wary of sweet talks to avoid being lured into prostitution or used as drug vehicles in exchange for money, warned Assistant Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology Datuk Hjh Jainab Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Ahmad.

She said the act of transporting drugs could put the convicted in jail for life.

“Some of them (the women) want to get rich quick, and some students want to live high, fly overseas and carry branded handbags.

“Don’t just work for glamour,” Jainab said when asked to comment on Sabahan women and students being lured into prostitution.

She further advised young people to be alert and not to be cheated by schemes on Facebook that promises fast cash.

“On Facebook, it (advertisement for get rich schemes) appears today, but disappears easily the next day,” she said, adding that regulations regarding Internet scams have not been fully enforced.

“The Human Resource Department should be proactive and work with the police in monitoring and catching these scams.” Jainab also suggested the Minister of Information, Communication and Culture Dato’ Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim warn people against such danger on Facebook and Twitter, as young people spend much time online.

She further urged the people to check with the government for credible employment agencies.
