KOTA KINABALU: The Land and Survey Department will shorten the time to survey land for the issuance of titles from 24 months to three months next year.
Its director Datuk Osman Jamal said the F2F (Field to Field) method would be used to speed up the process.
Osman said the time to process TOL application for land, stone and sand mining would be reduced from 24 months to six months, while the land transaction registration process would be shortened from three months to two weeks through the department’s Land Dealing Electronic Submission System (LADDESS).
Since its launch in January this year, LADDESS has contributed 38,980 transactions with a total value of RM2.5 billion, he said at the official opening of Wisma Tanah dan Ukur here by Head of State Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah yesterday.
Osman also announced that the down payment for land compensation will be increased from 75 per cent to 90 per cent, while the remaining 10 per cent would be paid after the land mining survey has been approved.
However, the department is in the process of setting up the E-Kadastreal system that allows 100 per cent compensation from 2012.
During the event, Osman also announced that the department’s land revenue collection this year was the highest ever at RM260,650,349.98, including both premium and land taxes.
“Land tax payment through E-Banking since January 2008 has helped our department to improve our services,” he said.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, who was present at the event, said the State Government was satisfied with the operation of the newly built Wisma Tanah dan Ukur as it had improved the department’s delivery system, especially in the core business department.
“The building is a success and it proves that the State Government is committed to improve the delivery system for the people in Sabah. As a proof, the Land and Survey Department collected the highest revenue in November this year.
“It also provides a better working environment for the staff to give the best services to the customers,” said Musa.
He said the new building, which started operations in 2007, had helped the department make E-Banking (online) Inter Bank Giro (IBG) and Over the Counter systems a success.
After the opening, the Commissioner of Federal Land through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, delivered a cheque for RM147,254,953.48 to the State Government for premium and land tax payment arrears.
The cheque was handed over by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tan Sri Joseph Kurup to Musa.
Also present at the event yesterday were Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Datuk Nasir Sakaran and State Secretary Datuk Sukarti Wakiman.
