Youth hurt after car rams into signboard

KOTA KINABALU: An 18 year-old student may have to celebrate new year’s eve in the ward of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) after he was involved in a road accident at Jalan Kolam here yesterday.

In the 2pm incident, the male student who was believed to have lost control of the Perodua Myvi he was driving while travelling from the city towards Luyang.

The car rammed into a signboard of the Petronas petrol kiosk before spinning twice and was fortunate enough not to have ended inside a storm drain.

The victim was sent to the hospital for treatment and the police who later arrived at the scene carried out investigation. It was believed that the victim was travelling alone in the car when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, three friends were considered lucky when they escaped with only minor injuries after a Toyota Unser car they were travelling in was hit by a Ford Ranger car at Damai here on Thursday.

It was learnt that the Toyota Unser was making a U-turn towards Taman Bornion when it was suddenly hit by the four wheel drive vehicle which was travelling from the opposite direction. Due to the impact, the Toyota Unser overturned while the front part of the Ford Ranger was badly damaged.
