Farmer steals church money

MARUDI: A young farmer from Long Banga, Baram admitted stealing RM25,000 from a church.

Baram District Officer Joseph Belayong, acting as the magistrate, remanded him for four days.

The charge under Section 380 of the Penal Code was read to the 28-year-old in the Saban language.

The accused said he had spent all the money.

In a separate case, a rape was reported at Sg Arang, Lower Bakong area but the suspect is still in large.

Baram OCPD, DSP Abu Bakar Moktar when met by The Borneo Post yesterday said police know the identity of the suspect, and hope to arrest him soon.
