Good recent medal harvest by SGA

SIBU: Sibu Gynmastic (Wushu) Association did reasonably well in the recent Universal Chinese Sports held here, collecting two gold, four silver and two bronze medals in the Tai-Chi Push-Hand competition.

Su Chung Ung and Kong Fei Hoo won gold in their respective 85kg and 75 kg events.

The four silver medallists were Charlie Kho (75kg), Hii Chee Toh (56kg), Kong Chee Kiong (80kg) and Tie Ung (90kg) while the two bronze medal winners were Hii Che Siew (65kg) and Toh Ching Ho (60kg).

Sibu Gymnastic (Wushu) Association (SGA) chairman, Ngu Moh Ngi, speaking at the appreciation night, congratulated the athletes for their outstanding performance.

He said SGA would be putting strong emphasis to enhance the development of tai-chi push-hand in order to become a popular sport.

“More people are taking up the sport and this augurs well for the development of tai-chi push-hand which is an integral part of wushu events,” he added.

Ngu said the winners would undergo further training before joining the national tai-chi push-hand competition, to be held in Kuala Lumpur later this year.
