SETTING a trend in the networking business, Anna  Chee, manager of Nutrimetics Business Centre at The Mile 3 commercial centre in Kuching, is using her expertise as a certified beautician to give customers free consultation on skin analysis and skin care.

“People prefer going to cosmetics counters in departmental stores for their make up and skin care because they have beauty consultants to give them advice,” she said.

Because of that, Chee believes networking businesses, especially dealing with beauty products, lose out to their over-counter counterparts because they do not have the qualified personnel.

“People generally are cautious over what they put on their face — they need to be assured.”

This is particularly true in respect of networking businesses where contact with the sales team is minimal.

The detailed and informative catalogues are the main sales and marketing tools.

Starting with the Centre, Chee will give free consultation to customers on beauty tips and skin care.

“I believe customers have the right to know what they are buying and what they should buy. It’s not about making a quick buck.”

Chee was trained under Jean D’estrees in Paris on Face and Body Massage Therapy and later, under Carol Spenser, creative director of Style Directions as well as Robin Studio on Make up in the UK.

“This is the new era for Nutrimetics Business Centre. Customers are going to get more than their money’s worth. They get assurance and a peace of mind.”

Her vast experience in the beauty line allows Chee to help women discover their best styles and improve their grooming skills through the modern make-up techniques.

Putting colours on the face is an art that needed to be acquired, she said, adding that the right colours will complement the wearer’s personality.

It is universal knowledge that a radiant glow that comes from within supercedes the superficial beauty. And such glow can only be obtained from a healthy body and mind.

With the wide range of health supplements offered by Nutrimetics, Chee is on hand to advise customers on the right range for them.

Determined that the trend she sets does not drop in consistency, she has set herself the daunting task of giving monthly training to all her consultants.

She believes the quality of service should be maintained throughout.

Chee who has over 30 years experience in the beauty line, started out as rookie consultant in the giant networking business in 1982 after packing her bags from a secured secretarial job in an established company.

“I was ready for a challenging and highly rewarded profession and at that time, Nutrimetics was making a big splash in the town. I grabbed the opportunity.”

She has never looked back since, only forward, encountering and overcoming the challenges only the business world can offer.

“It has not been easy journey — there were times the weather could be turbulent and stormy enough to break a resilient person but one must have the confidence and perseverance to fight the odds.”

She does not regret her move but is glad she did it because it opened doors which were closed to her when she was sitting behind a desk.

“It has been an eye opener. It taught me things I would not have been able to  know or experience had I remained as a secretary.”

Her years in the corporate world have led her to understand the delicate connection between people and business.

She believes while making money is still the main denominator for any business, the way turn in a profit should be changed.

“There must be a trusting relationship between the customer and the proprietor because integrity and good faith assure the sustainability of any businesses besides the quality of the product,” she explained.
