Registrations for STPM and MUET now open

KUCHING: Registra-tions are now opened for private candidates intending to sit for 2011 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) and those seeking to sit for the mid-year Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

Registrations for 2011 STPM can be made from Jan 10 till March 29, while the mid-year Malaysian University English Test (MUET) from Jan 10 till Jan 27.

Those who wished to sit for the STPM examination as a private candidate must passed their Bahasa Malaysia paper in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination and must also possessed one of the following qualifications; SPM 1999 or before, SPM (Vocational), Malaysia Certificate of Education, Federation of Malaya Certificate of Education, Cambridge School Certificate and GCE/SAP (Malaysia or Cambridge with three passing papers sat in one examination sitting).

For SPM examination sat from 2000 to 2009, a minimum requirement for result achieved in one examination sitting are as follow; Grade 6C in at least three subjects or a grade 6C in two subjects and a pass in four subjects.

As for MUET examination, registration is opened to all candidates who are interested without any requirements.

Basic fees to sit for STPM (private candidates and private school students) is set at RM55 followed with an additional RM35 per (science and literature) subject. MUET examination fee is RM60.

Those who wished to register online could surf the Malaysian Examination Board website at www.mpm.edu.my or www.mesp.gov.my/online.

Candidates are advised to read the guideline at the said website thoroughly before purchasing a Pin number at any Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branch. The Pin number could be purchased at RM1. Candidates must not forget to include their MUET fees and STPM fees according to the registered subjects.
