BAU: Villagers of Kampung Sentah, Kuak, Gumbang, Padang Pan, Tringgus, Bradau and Sibulu in Bau and Siburan districts will soon enjoy round-the clock electricity supply.

According to Bengoh assemblyman Dr Jerip Susil, the villagers should have got the amenity earlier if not for the delay caused by the contractor doing the internal wiring.

He told reporters that a meeting was held on Friday with Sesco, the constractor and the villagers concerned to sort out the problem, adding he himself had received several complaints from the villagers about the contractor.

“The contractor doing the internal wiring was also supposed to attend the meeting, but they did not turn up,” Dr Jerip said yesterday.

Besides the issue of the internal wiring, other technical problems were also discussed and resolved, he pointed out.

According to him, the company (doing the internal wiring) had also failed to submit their testing result, adding:”The company has not done its work properly.”

He went on to say that the villagers had also been complaining about the contractor, adding that it was now up to Sesco to decide on the fate of the contractor- whether to allow them to continue or be blacklisted.

Earlier, Dr Jerip visited and presented provisions to flood victims comprising 11 families of Kampung Melayu Seberang Siniawan in a simple ceremony held at Siniawan Bazaar.

According to its village chief Awang Nizan Awang Jaya, the families were affected by flood for two days where the water level was between two and four feet.

Before presenting the provisions to the flood victims, Dr Jerip also visited the 4km Tanjong Durian Road in the district.

The gravel road which also links Kampung Kopid and Siga has many potholes, which he said he would try to resolve.

He said he would fix a meeting with Bau District Council to resolve the problem, adding that the owners of a factory using the road would also be invited.

Reporters covering the event saw a few 10-wheel lorries using the road, which Dr Jerip said was causing the potholes.

“We will ask (during the proposed meeting) that the factory owners help to maintain the road,” Dr Jerip said.
