KUALA LUMPUR: The monthly Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contribution for the private sector will revert to 11 per cent effective January, from the current 8 per cent.

“Employers must ensure that the correct amount is deducted from the wages of their employees based on the higher contribution rate and remitted to us,” EPF public relations general manager Nik Affendi Jaafar said in a statement yesterday.

Contributions from employees were reduced from 11 per cent to 8 per cent over a two year period from January 2009 to December 2010. Nik Affendi said employees who had previously submitted the KWSP 17A (AHL) special form to maintain the contribution rate at 11 per cent during the two-year period, would not be affected.
