KUCHING: Syarikat Glenreagh Sdn Bhd is organising – ‘Tomorrow’s Leaders Summit’ to be held here on March 18 to 20.

Its managing director Nordin Abdullah yesterday said that the summit is held to develop youth leaders with the capacity to compete in the global front.

According to him, the summit aims to attract about 1,000 individuals under 40 from the state, west Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand and other Asean countries.

“Currently, 500 individuals have registered for the summit whereby 50 per cent of them are from Sarawak and the rest are from Peninsula Malaysia and neighbouring countries. We are confident about participation from outside the country, especially Singapore,” he said during a press conference regarding the summit.

Nordin also confirmed that eight speakers from Singapore have confirmed their attendance at the summit to be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

Chief minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is expected to officiate at the event. Also present at the press conference is Somerset Gateway resident manager Timothy Wong.

“Among the issue that will be discussed are ways to minimise the gap between urban and rural youths and its impact on development,” said Nordin.

The summit is also a platform for youth leaders to voice out issues and ideas to senior leaders.

Nordin added that Syarikat Glenreagh Sdn Bhd will work with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Science Academy and other youth organisations such as Sarawak National Youth Organisation (Saberkas).

Besides that, he said that his organisation has also received numerous supports from Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB).
