KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 19-year-old jobless youth was yesterday charged with murdering a 15-year-old student early this year.
CHARGED WITH MURDER: Abang Ibrahim being escorted to the police lockup after the murder charge was framed against him.
The charge was framed against Abang Ibrahim Abang Ahmad from Kampung Sadong Jaya by Magistrate Mohd Ainnies Wahab at Kota Samarahan District Office.
No plea was taken.
Abang Ibrahim allegedly committed the offence between Jan 15 around 1pm and Jan 17 around 7.30am at a house in Kampung Pendam, Sadong Jaya.
The body of the victim was found buried near the house where the murder took place.
Murder comes under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
Another person arrested and suspected to be his accomplice was unconditionally released.
Taufik Abdul Rahim from Kampung Iboi Hulu was reported missing by his father after he failed to return home.
His body was found buried behind the accused’s house at about 10am on Jan 17.
The accused was nabbed while riding the victim’s motorbike.
The court yesterday ordered the accused to be further detained in police custody and he was advised to engage a lawyer.
The case will be brought to Kuching High Court next week for further mention on a date to be fixed for the trial.
DPP Poh Yih Tinn prosecuted while Abang Ibrahim was not represented by a counsel.
