KUCHING: The Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) is focused on achieving its target by wining and getting promotion into the Super League in 2012.
The Crocs curtain – raiser match will kick- off on Jan 31 playing against Pulau Pinang at Stadium Batu Kawan.
“The team’s spirit are high to hunt for their first win of the season and to stay at top of the tables for the whole season,” said Datu Sudarsono Osman, president of FAS yesterday.
He added that apart from setting their sights on winning the league title, the team had to maintain their focus on playing well and treated each match with the utmost importance.
“They must also have a sense of self- belief that they can achieve the target by building strong team harmony which is recipe to achieve glory,” assured Sudarsono.
Meanwhile, Zaki Sheikh Ahmad who echoed Sudarsono views was confident that his boys would make it to the top flight of Malaysian football.
New signing Bobby Gonzales, the former national under-23 squad, is to be paired up with last season’s top striker, Zamri Morshidi and the duo hopefully would give the Crocs an edgier bite this season.
He also said that each player would be assessed from game to game basis and possibility of changes to the first eleven for the first few matches would be expected.
“If we rely on individuals, we will only win matches. If we rely on teamwork, we will win the tournament,” Zaki asserted.
