SIBU: Muslim Welfare Organisation of Malaysia (Perkim) Sibu can rest assured now that they will get their new building soon.

THANK YOU: Fatimah receives a memento from Sharifah Zaidah (left) as Sharifah Mariam looks on.

Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office Datin Fatimah Abdullah said she will help Perkim Sibu pursue the matter.

Earlier, Perkim Sibu chairperson Datin Sharifah Zaidah Syed Abdul Aziz told Fatimah that the building they had been using for the past 10 years was taken over by Baitulmal Sibu.

“We have no place to go to carry out our activities,” she said, while asking Fatimah to look into the problem.

Replying to this, Fatimah disclosed that she had sent letters to Baitulmal asking about the matter, for which she had not received any response yet.

“If Plan A does not work, we will use Plan B,” she said towards the end of her speech when officiating at Perkim Sibu’s annual general meeting here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Sharifah Zaidah also disclosed that Perkim Sibu received a grant totaling RM80,000 from Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when he visited Sibu during the Sibu by-election in April last year.

On a related matter, she said Perkim Sibu through their active religious preaching and activities had registered some 60 new Muslim converts last year.

Also present was Perkim Sibu permanent chairperson Pemanca Sharifah Mariam Syed Junaidi.
