The concert was held at the United Chinese Association (UCA) premises. Speaking at the opening, 308-A2 district governor (DG) Augustine Ngu said the proceeds would be used to provide better facilities, services and living conditions to the needy.

“Most of the rural communities are either poor, have inadequate access to immunisation, medical services, education or are in poor health.

“Realising the issues, we try to provide humanitarian aid to them,” he pointed out, saying the effort was in line with their motto ‘We Serve’.

According to him, Lions Club International is the world’s largest service club organisation and consists of nearly 1.4 million members in about 46,000 clubs in 206 geographical areas around the world. Since 1917, Lions Club had been giving aid to the blind and visually impaired and made strong commitment to community service and serving youth throughout the world.

Touching on the Global Youth Music Concert, he said it is a unique cultural event for young musicians to portray their talents.
