KUCHING: A resident of Taman BDC reported the theft of RM30,000 worth of fish which went missing from a pond in the compound of his house.

The 52-year-old discovered the theft when he returned home around 9.30pm on Sunday and saw the lights surrounding the pond had been switched off.

A closer look revealed that more than 10 fish of various species, such as the priced empurau and eels, were missing.

The incident was apparently not the first time thieves had entered the compound of his house to steal fish from his pond.

In an unrelated incident, thieves broke into a dental clinic in Kota Sentosa
and stole dental equipment and some cash early yesterday.

The clinic’s owner and dentist in his 30’s, was notified of the theft around 4am and arrived at the premises to see the aluminium shutter, security grille and glass door had all been forcibly open.

Apart from a number of equipment, the thieves also stole about RM150 in petty cash.

A police report of the break-in was made and the case is under investigation.
