Youth pleads guilty to intimidating brother

KUCHING: A 20-year-old youth charged with intimidating his brother pleaded guilty to the offence in the magistrates’ court here yesterday.

Dixon David Alam appeared before Magistrate Shafiza Abdul Razak Tready who released him on RM5,000 bail with two sureties and fixed today for sentencing.

The sentencing was deferred because his social report, which is needed for youthful offenders, was still pending.

The youth admitted that on Jan 28 this year and at about 10.15pm at their house in Taman Malihah, he pointed an umbrella at the complainant Maurice David Alam.

He also uttered the phrase: “Mau saya cucuk kamu?” (Do you want me to poke you with this?) and also: “Saya mahu tengok kamu hidup ataupun tidak malam ini” (I want to see if you would be alive or dead tonight).

He then threw a concrete block at Maurice who managed to avoid it.

The brief facts of the case stated that Maurice was giving a pep talk to the accused for coming back late at night and this angered the accused who was also drunk.

Before he left the house, he uttered the words against the complainant and also their mother.

Maurice later lodged a police report and Dixon was arrested on Feb 1.

The offence comes under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum penalty of two years’ imprisonment and/ or with a fine upon conviction.

He was unrepresented while Inspector Mathafiz Matlawi prosecuted.
