DCM reminds Betong parliamentary constituents to defend the BN fortress from being wrecked by the opposition parties

THE PROOF: Jabu shows a newspaper cutting of cracks in the opposition.

BETONG: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang yesterday reminded the people to defend the Barisan Nasional (BN) fortress here from being wrecked by the opposition in the coming state election.

“Bear in mind that the Democratic Action Party (DAP) was the only party that did not object to the request by communist leader Chin Peng to return to the country.

“This clearly shows that the DAP, which is part of the opposition pact, has no heart at all for the Sarawak Rangers and members of the other forces killed by the communists during confrontation and they should be rejected completely,” he said.

Jabu, who is Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president and Layar assemblyman, said that the people in this division and the Betong parliamentary constituency in particular should never give chance to the opposition to get any of their state seats in the next state election.

“In Betong we do not have any opposition.

“We reject opposition. Remember, don’t let our fortress be destroyed, encroached by the opposition,” he said.

He said this when speaking at the opening of the seminar for community leaders from Betong and Saratok by Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud here yesterday.

He said that most if not all of the opposition leaders in the state, such as those from Sarawak National Party (SNAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) were those who have been rejected by the people.

However, he said, these opposition leaders have tried to confuse the rakyat by smearing against the government despite knowing very well that they were unaccepted by the majority.

He said so as to continue enjoying the fruits of development, the people in this division, in particular, should continue to give their full support to the present BN government.

Meanwhile, he also said that the people here were all for Taib to continue leading as chief minister and they will continue to rally firmly behind him.

He said that the state has progressed tremendously under Taib’s leadership and therefore should be allowed to lead Sarawak for as long as he could.

Meanwhile, 480 community leaders, comprising 239 and 241 from Betong and Saratok districts respectively, attended the seminar yesterday.

State secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani also spoke at the occasion.
