KUCHING: As competition intensifies in the market, Hong Leong Bank (HLB) continues to innovate by developing a brand new credit card that would meet the tangible needs of its customers.

The Hong Leong Fortune Credit Card, in association with Visa International, is the first-to-market credit card to offer customers real cash.

“Instead of reward points or cash back for the usage of the card, customers will now receive real cash earnings which will be accessible to card members at any time, anywhere via HLB’s wide network of ATMs (automated teller machines),” said HLB’s chief operating officer for personal financial services, Moey Tan.

“From our proprietary research, consumers are keen on the concept that they get to enjoy rebates from all retailers with no specific time/days constraint. The basic consumer expectations from a credit card lies in the simplicity, flexibility of spending habits and more savings compared to existing cards in the market,” she added.

Tan explained that the Hong Leong Fortune Credit Card offers customers a reward scheme in the form of cash. Every time a customer spends with the card, he/she will earn real cash (one per cent of every transaction), anytime, anywhere.

“Added to this, card members are paid interest equivalent to the three-month fixed deposit rate on cash accumulated in their Fortune account. To top it all, an annual bonus is rewarded to card members based on their total cash earnings at the end of 12 months. The real cash earned will not expire and it offers customers the flexibility of withdrawing it anytime via ATM or potentially to offset the card balances,” she highlighted.

Another attractive feature is a high credit limit which may be offered to match the financial needs of new card members. Targeted at those who are yet to become Hong Leong Credit Card members, the Fortune Credit Card offers other great benefits.

Some of the great benefits included travel protection plan and free KLIA Ekspres return ticket.

When card members charge their air tickets to their Hong Leong Fortune credit card, they are automatically insured for up to RM500,000 via the bank’s travel protection plan. The plan also reimburses card members for any inconveniences experienced during their travel such as luggage delays, lost luggage and delayed/missed flight connections.

As for the free KLIA Ekspres return ticket, card members who purchase economy class air tickets/packages worth RM3,000 and above from Hong Leong Travel Services will enjoy a return KLIA Ekspres ticket absolutely free.

“We are at the forefront of developing and addressing the ever-changing needs of the market by designing new and relevant products for our customers. We will continue to bring innovation to the mass affluent segment,” she concluded.

In conjunction with the launch, the first 10,000 new-to-bank Hong Leong Fortune Credit Card members with minimum RM500 spending in the first 45 days will enjoy a lifetime annual fee waiver.

In addition, early spenders (the first 1,000 qualifying customers) will get RM50 real cash with a minimum of two successful transactions in 45 consecutive days. Campaign terms and conditions apply, together with those in relation to the credit card.

Along with this launch, the bank also announced a free three days and two nights Disneyland Hong Kong ground package for two adults and two kids for monthly top spenders. The promotional campaign starts from now to June 30, 2011.
