KUCHING: A woman claimed that her daughter’s handbag with contents worth RM5,000 was stolen from her home in Taman Sri Malihah on Sunday.
The bag apparently contained cash, a mobile phone and gold accessories.
The 39-year-old mother discovered the handbag was missing when she went to get some cash.
She did a quick check around the house but could not see any sign of a break-in. Police are investigating.
Meanwhile, a shop owner lost her handbag when she placed in on a shop counter at about 1pm last Sunday.
The incident happened at the victim’s shop at Mile 12 Jalan Kuching-Serian.
The 30-year-old said prior to the incident, a man had approached the counter to ask for a drink.
When she went to get a canned drink from the fridge, another man called out to her.
After both men left, she discovered her handbag with about RM7,000, a bank book and some documents was missing.
She then lodged a police report.
Similar cases have been reported recently where the thieves are believed to be targeting small shops being looked after by one person.
