KUCHING: Livonia Ricky, 20, with her mesmerising theatrical skills won the hearts of fans to emerge champion of the second season reality show Pilih Kasih on RTM2.
Barely a week into her new found glory, the former Miss Borneo Beautiful 2009 winner’s inbox is quick to be filled by numerous offers from production companies interested to have her in their cast.
“I am happy and speechless when declared champion among the seven finalists,” said Livonia who garnered the highest votes via SMS and impressive points from Rosyam Nor, judge and executive producer of the 11-week show.
The show, which tested the 16 contestants in drama, theatre and monologue skills, eliminates one contestant per week in search of the best actor or actress with a sense of suspense every Saturday night.
“The win was also a birthday present to me as the final coincides with my 20th birthday,” said Livonia who showed her acting skills to more than two million viewers nationwide on the night of Feb 19.
A turning point for the Bidayuh lass to take up acting seriously, Livonia is considering to transfer from her current UiTM Samarahan campus to Shah Alam where the acting industry will be right at her doorstep.
“We had only three months of training which consists of theatrical performance and what to expect in the growing industry,” said Livonia recalling the strenuous activities during the season of the show.
“However the most essential part is the vocal training which is very important in theatre,” enthused Livonia.
Among names offering her in their production is renowned movie director, Aziz M Osman who wants her in his new movie, Azura.
“However nothing is conclusive yet, I hope to get an answer by next week,” added Livonia upon her arrival at Kuching International Airport last night.
“I am also earmarked to be in the RTM’s drama musical which is somewhat a Malaysian version of ‘Glee’ the musical,” said Livonia who is keeping her fingers crossed for the offer which could springboard her name in the acting world.
Justifying her excitement, Datuk Ibrahim Yahya, RTM’s head of broadcasting had earlier announced that the new slot would feature contestants from the first and second season of Pilih Kasih in all the 13 episodes.
He said the prize giving ceremony will be on March 4 in Kuala Lumpur where Livonia will collect a RM10,000 cheque.
“However there is still a few more weeks before they let me drive home the car,” she added in jest.
