MIRI: Scores of people thronged Miri Traffic Police office at Jalan Riam yesterday to pay their outstanding traffic summonses as it was the last day for them to do so.

SEEKING TO BEAT DEADLINE: Road users crowding Miri Traffic Police office at Jalan Riam yesterday as they make a last minute rush to clear off their summonses before the deadline.

LONG QUEUE: Traffic offenders making a beeline outside Miri Traffic Police office.

Traffic offenders risk being blacklisted if they fail to clear off the summonses by yesterday.

A brief survey conducted by The Borneo Post yesterday morning revealed that hundreds of them waited outside the office as early as 7am.

In the afternoon, the number seemed to increase to about 600, although three payment counters were opened.

One of them when met yesterday said most of them were not aware that the office was opened on Sunday to collect payment of summonses.

“Lack of awareness on the operating hours has made the office crowded today by traffic offenders who wanted to pay off their summonses,” he said.

The grace period for payment of outstanding traffic summonses would not be extended after Feb 28.
