Murdoch University offers tuition fee scholarships to international students

KUCHING: Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia, is offering tuition fee scholarships to international students who wish to study at its Perth campuses in 2011.

Murdoch University senior deputy vice chancellor Gary Martin said that its new Murdoch International Discoverers’ Scholarship Scheme was designed to assist prospective international students by effectively replacing a component of the published annual course tuition fees with a scholarship.

Depending on the course selected, the scheme allowed for a reduction in annual course fees, by between A$500 and A$5500.

He said that the part scholarships were only available to students who applied for entry to Murdoch University for commencement in 2011 and the scholarship would be applied to the annual published course fee for the duration of the degree.

“Under the scheme, students who are given an offer by the university will automatically be awarded the part tuition fee scholarship,” Prof Martin explained.

The university had also developed several initiatives to enhance international student experience at Murdoch.

“We have also introduced a dedicated 24/7 Student Support telephone service, so that international students can be reassured that they can contact somebody if there is a need,” he added.

According to Prof Martin, the extension of Murdoch Village had new facilities such as swimming pool and BBQ areas.
