The team, captained by Johari Aman, and comprising Mohd Lokman Mustapa, Waili Abang, Ong Kim Peng, Gepairi Jol, Zakaria Husaini, William Manggoi, Hazaman Bunggal, Sophian Lokman and Hilman Suut, beat HGA in the semi-final on Saturday by sudden death play-off.

HGA and Dayang Salhah were level on points after three wins each from six matches and a sudden death was needed to break the tie — at Hole 3, Hole 9, Hole 1, Hole 2 and again Hole 3.

After both teams squared off at the first hole, HGA saw their hopes dashed when a putt to square the second play-off hole fell just short of the cup, giving the victory to Dayang Salhah.

In the other semi-final, Brother’s pipped Hanayin Gertaq 3.5-2.5 on the very last hole of their four-ball matches.

The third placing went to Hanayin Gertaq who thumped HGA 5-1.

The other teams in the second edition of the championship, organised by Sarawak Club Golf Resort, and sponsored by Eastern Oxygen Sdn Bhd, were defending champions Challengers, Erakristal Boss and Tergeleng-geleng.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Leong carded 77 to win the gross event of the EOX Open while Awang Madzelan was second with an 80 and Lee Kah Ming, third on 81.

The nett title went to Ibrahim Mokarat who returned 67, followed by Abang Maludin on 72 with Ezemeri Hasni third a stroke further back.

Mohd Lyzmie took fourth spot by beating Omar Mohamad on count back after both recorded 74.

The Invited Guest Section nett title went to Dr David Ling who posted 76 while Ahmad Faizal finished second on 77.

Zaidi Mahdi, Lee Jook Chaw and Alvin Tham were third, fourth and fifth respectively after finishing a stroke ahead of each other.

Eastern Oxygen Industries Sdn Bhd general manager Vernon Chew and Sarawak Club Golf Resort club captain Brian Chien gave away the prizes.
