“There will always be a high demand of nurses, laboratory technicians and medical assistants in the country,” said KSKB director Mohd Haffizie Putit yesterday.

He added KSKB welcomed school leavers who were interested to continue their studies in Diploma in Nursing, Diploma in Medical Assistant and Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technologist at the institution.

“We urged those interested, especially the Chinese community and males to apply through the Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam (SPA) website,” said Haffizie when met during a ‘Blood Donation’ campaign organised by KSKB Student Body at the College.

In welcoming students from all races including those from the rural areas, Haffizie said applications can be done anytime at the website and student intake will be on January and July each year.

“Those who made it through the selection process will receive a monthly allowance of about RM600 during their three-year study.

Not only that, they will also be provided free uniforms, books allowances and full board hostel stay,” he added.

KSKB is an academic institution under the Malaysian Health Ministry, and according to Haffizie, graduates from the college will be placed in government clinics and hospital upon graduation.

Meanwhile, KSKB deputy director Voon Ah Kim added that the college currently has 1,747 students and 60 lecturers.

“We are also the biggest KSKB campus in East Malaysia. Currently there are four colleges in the state with locations in Serian, Sibu and Mile 7,” said Voon.
