KAPIT: Kapit Tan San Ten Association (TST) members were advised to continue supporting its management committee to ensure all activities planned could be implemented.

“TST has created history among NGOs here being the first to own two shoplots,” said chairman Ma Tian Ho at its annual general meeting on Sunday.

A shoplot along Jalan Kapitan Chua Leong Kee currently under re-construction is almost completed.

“The committee is also in the process of preparing tender documents to rent out the shoplot to generate funds for the association,” he said.

At the same time Ma disclosed that the association is in the process of constructing a benevolent building for the old and for funerals.

“Future expansion is to purchase a piece of land to construct a multi-purpose hall,” he said.

Ma noted that a yardstick for success of any association is not the physical property but the unity that strengthens the organisation.

He disclosed that TST being the oldest association in town has some 300 members comprising Chiang Chuan and Kwang Tung clan.

Also present were ex-Temenggong Sng Chee Eng who is also the adviser, Kapitan Yong Thu Fook, immediate past chairman Sng Geok Seng and secretary Sng Geok Yien.
