GEORGETOWN: The Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) congratulated Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for taking up its advice to sue whoever the state deems is responsible for any wrongdoing in the Pulau Jerejak issue.

Its working committee chairman Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan said he was happy that Lim had fi nally taken the right approach to solve the matter.

“Lim have taken the right recourse, instead of fi nding fault and going after the wrong target which he had done many times before,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

It was reported yesterday that the Penang government would fi le a suit against the developer of Tropical Island Resort (TIR) to recover RM10.6 million in land premium for the 32.2ha land in Pulau Jerejak. Lim said this was decided at the state executive council meeting Wednesday.

Dr Teng said previous actions taken by Lim such as distributing about 300,000 fl yers to the people was a waste of public money for the printing cost.

“His open calls for the previous BN state administration and former chief minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon to pay up for the so-called loss of RM30 million, are all futile politicking solely aimed at tarnishing BN’s image.”

However, Dr Teng who is also Penang Gerakan chief, said the state BN would continue to play a constructive role in monitoring the performance of the state government, without fear or favour. —Bernama
