KUCHING: The civil service must continuously be innovative and creative in order to provide quality services that can satisfy the public.

Kuching City South Council mayor James Chan said this included taking the approach of engaging people and getting them involved in any government activities.

“Their participation can ensure that the outcomes are better and more satisfying for both parties,” said Chan in his speech at the closing of Kuching South-level Sejiwa Senada programme at Dewan Masyarakat Padungan Sunday night.

“Therefore, I urged all to work together and give their cooperation so that we could bring the city to the highest level and become more prestigious,” he added.

He also praised the committee members for their contribution and anticipation, for making this event a success.

Chan pointed out that the Sejiwa Senada event is an example of the government’s commitment to ensure the people continue to work together to build a bright future for Sarawak.

Also present were Kuching Resident officer Liew Jiu Ming and organising chairman Dr Razali Abon.

Meanwhile, Liew disclosed that the 11th Sejiwa Senada programme, which was opened by Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud last Saturday night, had attracted a total of 42,953 visitors.

He added that it had received a good response from city residents despite their target to record 50,000 visitors for the event held from March 25 to 27.

“However, the event had recorded the highest number of participants in the e-Peraduan competition with 2,371 entries,” he disclosed.

The Kuching North-level Sejiwa Senada programme will be held this weekend.
