PUTRAJAYA: Another trainee at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur, died of adenovirus infection, bringing the total death toll to three.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the victim, from Bagan Datoh, Perak, was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on March 3 and died of multiple organ failure at its intensive care unit at about 11.30pm Tuesday.
“The victim was from the earlier cases. It’s not a new infection. The last case was detected on March 19,” he told reporters here yesterday.
He said the ministry could only declare that the country was free from adenovirus if no new case was detected within 14 days from the day the last case was reported.
Meanwhile, police said two female trainees were still being treated at the hospital and had shown encouraging signs of recovery. — Bernama
