BINTULU: The election machinery of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Jepak is fully prepared for the 10th state election.

Deputy chief of PBB Jepak cum N.58 Jepak election director Saidi Abang Samsudin said the party machinery was in all preparedness and would do its best to face the election.

He said they had been conducting campaigns at the grassroots level
in recent years.

Asked about the other candidates who would be standing in the Jepak constituency, he said only one candidate would be elected for the seat.

“Only Datuk Talib Zulpilip receives strong support from all races involving Malays, Iban in Jepak. I am confident that BN will win in Jepak,” he said yesterday.

“We will not be afraid to face any challenges from the opposition,” he said.
Replying to a question that there would be a locally born candidate who would fight the incumbent, he said the people knew Talib better.

In addition to the party machinery, he said, the PBB service centre operations room at Taman Sri Dagang Jepak is also fully prepared.

PBB has 15 branches in Jepak constituency
where there are 128 longhouses including villages with 13,000 registered voters.

Meanwhile, a total of five sets of nomination forms have been sold to individuals and representatives of a party that is expected to contest in the Jepak constituency on April 16.

The election manager for Jepak constituency, Ismawi Salleh said each area is allocated with only six sets of nomination form priced at RM20 per set.

He said Bintulu Civic Centre would be used for nomination and counting of votes.
He added 30 teams would be on duty to monitor and ensure that the polling process would
proceed without any interruption.

Based on the number of nomination forms sold so far, N.58 Jepak is likely to see five cornered fight involving BN, the opposition party and independents.

To date, the Pakatan Rakyat is likely to field PKR Bintulu vice-chief III Abdul Jalil Bujang as its candidate for Jepak.
