SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Municipal Council (SMC) and the police will carry a joint operation against litterbugs on May 1.
SMC president Datuk James Wong yesterday warned that action would be taken against those who throw rubbish from their vehicles.
“We will work very closely with the police. These offenders will be fined on the spot for such offence,” said Wong.
He added that the council had spent a lot of money annually to clear and collect the rubbish in the town.
He lamented that rubbish bins provided for disposing of these rubbish were vandalised.
