MIRI: Charity worker Datuk Juliana Pengiran Tambi yesterday confirmed she will stand for Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) in the Bekenu state constituency.

When contacted by The Borneo Post, Juliana said she had met with Bekenu folk over the past two years to listen to their problems.

“I feel very sad to see many areas in Bekenu lacking facilities including the poor road system,” said the 43-year-old.

Juliana stressed that she is well prepared to contest.

“I’m not contesting just for name’s sake, but I genuinely want to help people in the constituency get all the development they deserve.

“I am ready to face BN (Barisan Nasional), SNAP (Sarawak National Party), PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat), PAS (Parti Islam Se-Malaysia) or any other opposition party that wishes to contest in Bekenu. I have done my homework and I will contest without fear,” she
said.

Another opposition candidate who could be contesting in the seat is PKR’s Zulhaida Hadie @ Suboh.

On Wednesday, incumbent Bekenu assemblywoman Rosey Yunus said she is confident of retaining the seat for
BN.

In the 2006 election, then newcomer Rosey defeated PKR’s Modak Ismail by a 3,072-vote majority.

She is a Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) vice-president.
