DAP, PKR agree on Dudong

SIBU: It appears that all differences between DAP and PKR over Dudong seat have been settled.

PKR Lanang division chairman George Chen said they had decided to let DAP contest the seat in the spirit of unity in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition.

He said it was also to fulfil the wish of the majority of the people here who prefer to see a straight-fight between the opposition pact and the BN.

“A three-cornered fight would not augur well for the opposition pact.”

Chen said the official announcement would be made by PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a later date.

Chen admitted that the decision to drop the claim on Dudong seat had affected the morale of many PKR supporters in the area.

He said the party had been working very hard in the area for the past three years, and was well accepted by the Dayak and Chinese communities there.

“But we just have to comply with what our party leadership decides,” he added.
