KUALA LUMPUR: Two non-governmental organisations yesterday called on the police to reveal the identity of the alleged opposition
politician in a sex video clip, now that the police have confirmed the recording as authentic.

They are Pertubuhan Pemikir Profesional Melayu Malaysia (PPPMM) or the Malaysian Malay Professional Thinkers Organisation and Badan Bertindak Perpaduan Melayu (Malay Solidarity Action Body).

PPPMM president Datuk Dr Kamarudin Kachar told Bernama when contacted that the police should identify the alleged politician to put an end to the confusion arising from speculation on the matter.

Badan Bertindak Perpaduan Melayu head Osman Abu Bakar said the politician should resign once the allegation had been proven true.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Ismail Omar said yesterday the sex video clip
allegedly involving an opposition politician and a woman suspected to be a prostitute was a genuine recording, as confirmed by experts conducting
an investigation into the video clip.

He, however, did not name the characters in the video clip.

Businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, Datuk Shuaib Lazim, the treasurer-general of the Malay right-wing group Perkasa and former Melaka Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik, who initially identified themselves as ‘Datuk T’ (T for trio), exposed the existence of the sex video on March 21.

The next day, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim lodged a police report saying that he was not the man in the sex video, and the police launched their investigation. — Bernama
