SERIAN: Barot Anom, 56, from Kpg Sangai was one of the happy recipients of land titles issued by Salcra here yesterday.

“I have been able to get dividends from Salcra for the last five years with an average returns of RM2,000 a year,” Barot told reporters after receiving his land title from Infrastructure Development and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin at Salcra’s multipurpose hall, Kedup II, some 40km from here yesterday.

Another recipient, retired teacher Paul Lambi, 65, never regrets participating in Salcra’s palm oil plantation development plan.

“There are many benefits in participating with Salcra. Under the plan, we have been given our individual land titles that I received today, making me a very happy man.

“And twice a year I will receive about RM4,000 each time depending on palm oil price, as the dividend for my participation in their plan.

“This has been going on for three years. There is really no regret at all,” said Paul, whose 10-hectare land has now become part of the 11,000 hectares of land in Serian, developed into palm oil plantation.

Rinyah Sila, 53, an Iban from Kpg Entayan, Keropok also expressed joy for her 10-hectare land title.

“The 10 hectares of land used to be barren. But since I joined Salcra, I have been given a dividend of about RM10,000 a year from the land. And today, I have got my land title.

“The dividends have helped me a lot in
raising my standard of living. Before this, I was really in great difficulty as I have very little income,” she said.

Yesterday, a total of 462 Salcra participants received their individual land titles.

Manyin added all land developed by Salcra would be given individual titles and classified under Section 18 of the Land Code, where the owners hold them for perpetuity,” added Manyin.
