STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE: Dr Sim (second right) meets with the top pupils.

KUCHING: A team of nine outstanding pupils from SK (C) Sungai Apong will go on a three-day study tour of Peninsular Malaysia from May 25.

The tour’s objectives are to expand their horizons and knowledge, as well as study the functions of various government departments and educational institutions, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Pending Branch said in a statement yesterday.

The tour also aims to encourage pupils to strive for better results in future.

When Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian learned of the proposed study tour, he immediately contacted the headmaster and arranged to meet the top pupils, said the statement.

Dr Sim encouraged the pupils to study hard and aim to be professionals.

“Once you are a professional, there are fields and rooms where you could expand yourselves. Thus, pupils should study hard during their school days to equip themselves properly, paving the way for them to contribute to nation building in future,” he said.

He also reminded the pupils to express gratitude, especially to their parents and teachers.

Dr Sim paid special tribute to teachers for their hard work in educating the future pillars of society.

He hoped teachers would continue to help pupils realise their dreams.
