KUCHING: A foreign worker injured her head in a fall during a struggle with a robber over her mobile phone in Sekama late Thursday night.
The 42-year-old woman, who works at a coffee shop, had just closed the front grille of the premises around 10pm when an unknown man called out to her from the outside saying he wanted to buy a pack of cigarettes.
As she approached him to tell him the shop was closed, the man suddenly reached out and tried to snatch her mobile phone from her hand.
However, she managed to ward off his hand and ended up in a brief struggle with him, which ended when she fell and hit her head on the floor.
The thief then took advantage of the situation and fled with the handset while the victim, who suffered a gash to her head, sought her employer’s help to send her to the hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the incident after the woman lodged a report.
