KOTA KINABALU: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad’s book “Doctor in the House” reflects his personal opinion and his views of what had transpired during his tenure as Malaysia’s Prime Minister.

It is his right to write a book and what he pens is also his right and his own way of looking at what was happening then, said United Pasokmomogun KadazanDusun Murut Organization (UPKO) deputy information chief Sualim Gopog.

Therefore, it is not really necessary to comment on what Mahathir wrote especially if it doesn’t bring any benefit to nobody, he said in a statement yesterday.

Sualim also added that he supported UPKO president Tan Sri Bernard Dompok’s stand that everyone should look forward instead of looking behind and pointing fingers.

“I also feel that Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan should come forward about his feelings on the issue,” Sualim said.

Dompok, Datuk Yong Teck Lee and Datuk Tham Nyip Shen had been mentioned in the former prime minister’s book as having played a part in PBS pulling out from BN.

Dompok, the Penampang member of parliament, however stressed that he would comment further on the issue only after the PBS president affirms that he shared the same feelings about the roles each of them had played.

“I certainly would like to say a little bit more if Tan Sri Pairin comes out and confirms that this is what he feels about it.

“Everybody had a role, I remember very correctly that on the day the Supreme Council decided, I was out campaigning as a Penampang MP candidate. Then I received a call that there was a meeting by the president, I went and he started it all by talking about it.

“I do not want to talk about it. It is however important to say, ‘of course let’s move on,” Dompok said.
