KENINGAU: Assistant Rural Development Minister, Datuk Haji Sairin Karno has asked Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to repair all streetlights in all villages in the Liawan area.

He said he has received numerous reports from villagers and chairmen of Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) complaining about streetlights not functioning for over five years.

“Several community leaders have also lodged complaints to SESB but regretfully no action is seen to have been taken,” he told The Borneo Post after visiting Kampung Sondoton Baru here on Tuesday.

Sairin, who is also Liawan assemblyman, said the utility company should be concerned about all complaints made by residents and community leaders and act fast on those complaints.

He also requested SESB to address the issue of non-functioning streetlights seriously as soon as possible.
