LIMBANG: The mystery of a stench enveloping the residential area of Batu Biah has been solved with the discovery of a decomposing corpse.

The decease identified as Sirley Wong, 34, was found with her body lying face down in her bedroom at about 5.37pm last Tuesday.

According to sources, a thick black slime was gushing from the side of her body. Investigation Officer Sargeant Majer Ramli Salleh said the discovery ended speculation over the source of the smell in the neighbourhood.

“The sister of the deceased and her husband went to the house after they were informed by neighbours about the smell coming from it. Minutes after their arrival, they found the door locked so didn’t suspect something could have happened to her,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

According to sources, the woman lived by herself. “She was jobless and had no life partner, while her medical record showed she was healthy.”

“Initial investigation disclosed no sign of a struggle as the deceased was clothed,” he said.

Ramli said police had ruled out foul play. “We classify the case as sudden death and the body was sent to Limbang Hospital for post-mortem at about 6.20pm.”
