KUCHING: The upcoming Furniture and Home Expo 2011 will showcase the best in Sarawak furniture industry and also quality products from related and supporting industries from all over the country.

It will be held at Permata Exhibition Halls at Jalan Bukit Mata from July 7-10 starting at 11am to 9pm daily.

Organised by the Sarawak Furniture Industry Association (SFIA), the inaugural four-day expo will be the largest of its kind
with a total of 124 booths, covering 2,500 square metres.

According to SFIA chairman Lai King Min, more than 70 booths were already confirmed taken, which indicates a very good response to the expo.

“As of today, local manufacturers, traders and international branded products have taken up booths for the expo. Only about 54 booths are left.

“We are encouraging all our members to exhibit their products at this expo, while non-members are also welcomed to exhibit their products that are related to furniture and home, such as electrical goods, carpets, curtains, lightings and more. It will be advantageous to all participants to take part in this expo as it will generate awareness for their products,” he said in a press conference yesterday.

He also hoped to see participation from industry players from Sibu, Miri and other towns in the state.

SFIA has about 250 members.

“Visitors of the expo can expect daily lucky draws, special promotions and talks, among others. This is not going to be just another tradeshow, visitors can actually purchase products on the spot,” said Lai.

Among those who can benefit from this expo are home owners, interior designers, builders, architects, manufacturers, property managers, furniture wholesalers, retailers, hotels and institutions.

The Furniture and Home Expo 2011 is marketed and managed by experienced event management company IDA Exhibition Services.
