‘Village Hotspot’ 4G starts operating in Limbang

LIMBANG: Sarawak is believed to have the world’s first 4G hotspot serving a rural area.

The high speed broadband using fourth generation technologies Long Term Evolution and Wimax was launched in Limbang today.

The “Village Hotspot” covers Desa Pabahanan, Kampung Bunga Raya and Patiambun, benefiting some 800 people, including schoolchildren.

Deputy Information, Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Maglin Dennis D’Cruz launched the system provided by a Kuala Lumpur-based Bumiputera company as a corporate social responsibility.

Hidaka (M) Sdn Bhd was given licence to provide the service by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia commission. – Bernama
