MIRI: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam raged at the opposition as their campaigns were openly inciting hatred among the people.

“I’m so angry because they only know how to criticise, if they are that good, they should try to look for a better solution,” he fumed at a press conference held at Miri SUPP headquarters yesterday.

Dr Chan said the opposition claimed they were able to bring change to Miri and Sarawak as a whole, though some of them only came down for the election campaign.

“Can they do much better than the people who stay and originate from here, love the Resort City and have been servicing for the city for 30 years? You think for yourself,” he added.

The incumbent for Piasau dared DAP to build a school for the Chinese community, seeing that so far only SUPP was helping the Chinese community through the provision of school facilities.

Dr Chan also criticised opposition parties like Democratic Action Party (DAP) for only daring to contest in urban areas where the majority of the electorate were Chinese but not in the interior.

“They talk nonsense about our chief minister, but why not they contest in Balingian? Why only contest in urban areas?” he asked.

The press conference was also attended by BN Senadin incumbent Datuk Lee Kim Shin and Pujut incumbent Andy Chia Chu Fatt.
