KUCHING: Two police impersonators were arrested on Monday after they allegedly robbed three teenagers of their valuables earlier the same day. The suspects, who are both in their 20s, were picked up separately at their respective houses in Kampung Gita Laut around 6pm following a police report lodged by the victims. The incident happened around midnight when the teenagers were stopped by the men while they were riding their motorcycles at Kampung Gita Laut. Claiming to be policemen on routine patrol, the suspects ordered the teens to hand over their handphones and wallets for ‘inspection’, but were told instead to show their warrant cards first. At that point, the duo brandished small knives at the victims and forced them to surrender their valuables before fleeing the scene. One of the victims, however, identified one of the suspects as a resident of the village and relayed the information to the police, which facilitated the arrests. Both men have been detained pending further investigation. In an unrelated incident, a Good Samaritan was left by the roadside in his underwear after he was robbed by a group of men he had initially stopped to help. The incident happened on Monday around 9pm when the 24-year-old victim spotted two men standing at the roadside of Mile 4 Penrissen Road next to a stalled motorcycle. He then stopped to offer his assistance, and was told by the two men to use his motorcycle to help tow their bike to nearby Jalan Stampin Tengah. The men led him to a dark alley along the road where two more men were waiting, and they collectively robbed him of his wallet, which contained RM30, before ordering him to remove his clothes. They also took away his motorcycle key and disconnected its fuel hose before leaving him at the scene in only his underwear. Fortunately, a passer-by stopped to assist the victim and later brought him to the police station to lodge a report.
