During a simple presentation ceremony, centre chairman Hii Ming Hua said the contribution was very important for the centre to operate and carry out activities for the 330 children with disability (OKU) placed in the centre at present. According to him, the centre had to spend around RM250 on each child every month.

Deputy director-general of the Welfare Department Norani Mohd Hashim who also spoke, encouraged parents with OKU children to send them to the centre.

She said these children would be better cared and nurtured at the centre.

The Welfare Department, she disclosed, had started with the registration for OKU in December last year and the programme had received a very encouraging response. The function yesterday also witnessed a stage performance by the centre’s children.
