KUCHING: Maxis Bhd, Malaysia’s leading integrated communications service provider, was awarded the coveted Mobile Service Provider of the Year award at the 2011 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Excellence Awards.
This marks the third year that Maxis has been conferred the prestigious award since its inception in 2004, according to a press release issued in Kuala Lumpur.
The Mobile Service Provider of the Year award was presented to Sandip Das, chief executive officer of Maxis by the event’s distinguished guest of honour, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Dr Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria.
A total of 36 awards were presented at the awards night at the Kuala Lumpur Hilton Hotel.
Chief executive officer of Maxis, Sandip Das said, “We are humbled to receive

from such a distinguished organisation such as Frost & Sullivan. It has been a very gratifying year for Maxis, as we single-mindedly executed our strategy to transform ourselves from a mobile company to the nation’s leading integrated communications service provider, broadening our offerings to our customers.

The Mobile Service Provider of the Year Award was conferred to Maxis based on the company’s exemplary growth and performance across mobile service segments in 2010.
The Frost & Sullivan Awards are presented to companies that demonstrate best practices in their industry. They commend the diligence, commitment, and innovative business strategies required to advance in the global marketplace.
These Awards are presented annually at global, regional and country-specific levels. In 2004, Frost & Sullivan hosted its inaugural Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards to recognise outstanding performance by companies and individuals in the information
and communications technology (ICT) industry in the Asia Pacific region.
The 2011 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Excellence Awards in the ICT industry will once again recognise companies that have
pushed the boundaries of excellence – demonstrating outstanding performance and contributing to the growth of Malaysia’s telecommunications/ ICT industry.
