Six Sino Native KDM District Associations approved

KOTA KINABALU: The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has approved six additional Sino Native Kadazan, Dusun and Murut District Associations.

This was disclosed yesterday by information officer of the Sabah Sino Native Kadazan, Dusun and Murut (KDM) Association, Richard Haw.

According to him, the representatives of the districtassociations received the letters of approval from the president of Sabah Sino Native KDM Association, Datuk Johnny Goh.

The six district associations are Keningau, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Sipitang, Penampang and Kota Kinabalu while another six more are pending approval from ROS in Kuala Lumpur.

During the ceremony, the president thanked ROS for their cooperation in approving the applications and urged all representatives to continue to strive and to assist all the Sinos and to note the problems facing them, particularly those relating to their birth certificates, the transfer of native land titles and Amanah Saham Bumiputera in their respective districts.

By so doing, the association will be able to present the issues to the authorities concerned.

He also advised the representatives to recruit as many members as possible and reminded them to fulfill the vision and mission of the association.

Haw also stated that individual district associations which had been approved must hold their annual general meeting (AGM) within three months from the date of approval.

The Sipitang district association will hold the AGM on May 14, Kota Kinabalu City May 17, Keningau May 21 and Tenom  May 22. All the venues to be confirmed later.

For Kuala Penyu and Penampang district associations, the details of the AGM will be finalised at a later date.
