He said China’s strategic location and huge domestic market would open up vast business opportunities to Malaysian businessmen.

Muhyiddin hoped that the Malaysian business community would help in wooing Chinese investments to Malaysia.

“I will meet captains of industry in China to promote the investment and economic opportunities in Malaysia,” he said at a dinner with members of the Malaysian community in Beijing here.

He said his visit was aimed at enhancing bilateral ties between Malaysia and China and take the opportunity to interact with Malaysians in the Chinese capital (Beijing), Shanghai and Guangzhou.

“With China continuing to enjoy rapid development as an economic power and an important political powerhouse in the world, Malaysia can certainly benefit in trade, both regionally and globally.

It can also put Malaysia on the right track towards propelling the economy of Malaysia,” he said.

Muhyiddin said the economic capability and stability can help Malaysia to achieve the objective of becoming a high income nation by 2020.

To stimulate the economy and enhance development, the government had introduced comprehensive initiatives, including the Government Transformation Programme, Economic Transformation Programme, National Key Result Areas and National Key Economic Areas to transform Malaysia into a high income nation.

“The country can achieve the desired objectives through a collective effort from the people in the spirit of the 1Malaysia concept,” he said.

Muhyiddin also urged students pursuing their studies in China to return home after completing their studies and contribute to the development of the country.

“There are 512 students comprising all races, pursuing their education in Beijing.

For those whose mother tongue is not Mandarin but learning Mandarin here, I wish to congratulate them because they have proven that language is not a barrier to seek knowledge,” he said. — Bernama
