ALOR SETAR: Kedah PAS will continue to back party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang in defending his post at party polls in June.
Kedah PAS commissioner Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak said Abdul Hadi was the most qualified person to lead PAS for he had brought many changes to the party.
“Under his (Hadi’s) leadership, we had captured Kedah and continue to rule Kelantan. He also managed to convince PAS members to cooperate and work together under the coalition alliance.
“We used to disdain cooperation with other parties in the opposition alliance,” he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting here yesterday.
Asked whether he will contest any top posts at the party polls, Azizan said it was up to Pas members whether they want to nominate him for any position they feel appropriate.
“I used to be a vice-president, but I chose not to contest in the last party’s election. I just wait whether PAS members will nominate me,” he said.
Asked whether intense contest is on the cards at the party polls, he said PAS’ election had always been closely contested but the media did not give much attention before. — Bernama
