KOTA KINABALU: A local man, in his 40s, was killed on the spot while his family members are in critical condition after the Perodua Kancil car they were traveling was involved in a collision with a Toyota car in Papar yesterday.
The accident happened around 2pm at Kampung Sinar Baru in Kimanis.
Papar Fire and Rescue Department assistant officer II Hamid Hj Sami when contacted, said the department received a distress call at 2.50pm and four personnel in a truck were immediately deployed to the scene of the accident within minutes.
“The victim was pinned in the driver’s seat and it took our personnel a couple of minutes to free him,” he said.
It was reported that the victim was traveling with four other people inside the car, believed to be family members, when his car collided with the Toyota car.
The four victims in the Kancil and the driver of the Toyota were taken to the Papar District Hospital for emergency treatment.
