KAPIT: Kapit Member of Parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi lauded the efforts of parents and teachers to raise funds for their own schools’ development.

As such, he commended SK Kampung Baru Parent-Teacher (PTA) Association to raise fund through its many activities.

“Funds being raised must be used meaningfully. It must be for the good of the parent, teacher and pupil. It is important that school organises more social activities to foster closer rapport among parents and teachers ,” he said.

Alexander was attending SK Kampung Baru PTA’s organised fund raising dinner held at civic centre on Sunday night attended by some 370 guests.

In response to various requests from the school including the construction of a school hall, Alexander advised that they do a proper request through the Ministry of Education and he would definitely help to talk to the minister concerned.

He also urged parents to discipline their children.

“Parent must discipline their children. When children are disciplined, they tend to study better in school,” said Alexander.

At the function, he announced RM5000 government grant for the PTA activities.

Later he handed out hampers to the winners of the jogathon that was held earlier in the day.
